Other Parent Letters

My son has been involved with 4R's Tutoring since September 2002. In the months that have followed, I have noticed a significant improvement in both his ability to read and his self-esteem. He improved a full grade level in his reading in the first year. This was very impressive because, although he was in the fourth grade, he was only reading at a grade 1 level. Before entering 4R's, he had never had such a dramatic improvement in his reading abilities in such a short time. My son also feels more positive about his ability to tackle new reading challenges and his self-confidence has improved. He used to just say "I can't" or "I don't have to do that", but now he is willing to try. He often surprises himself when he can read books that used to be so hard and frustrating for him. The teachers that we have worked with at 4R's are committed to providing a productive, fun learning experience for my son. He loves one-on-one time with his teachers and he makes good progress with them.
The 4R's Tutoring Society has made a huge difference in the lives of my son and the rest of our family. He is happier, more self-confident, and much more willing to practice reading with us in the evening. He is not as down on himself as he once was and he is developing the ability to trust himself and take more chances when he is trying to read. I feel like my son is already a success story, but I realize that he is a success story in progress. He will continue to need assistance from the 4R's for years to come. I am asking for your continued support of the 4R's Tutoring Society so that children, including my son, can benefit from this invaluable resource in our community.

For the past two and a half years my son has been attending 4R's Tutoring Society. My son has a severe learning disability that needs a great deal of attention, and without 4R's he would not be receiving it. Within these two and a half years my son has learned extensive amounts about schooling and about himself. Without the extra help of this out of school resource and the commitment of the exceptional teachers at 4R's, he would not be at the level he is now. Thank you.

My son and daughter have been receiving lessons from 4R's Tutoring for the last 3 years. Both of their teachers have been exceptional and have given them nothing but the best. The teachers are very qualified. They met my children's needs where they were at and helped them to gain confidence in their academic skills. My gratitude goes to 4R's for what they have done for my children and other children in the community.

I am writing this letter to tell you how important the 4R's Tutoring Society is to my family. I feel that without it my son would have quit school because the school system was unable to help him. 4R's was able to help him cope with school. Because 4R's is non-profit, I am able to afford the help that is needed. I feel that 4R's provide an invaluable service to the community.

Our daughter was on the border of failing math. My husband and I seemed to get into confrontations with her when trying to help her with the subject. So we signed her up with the 4R's Tutoring Society. She enjoyed every session. After following the 4R's program consistently, over time our daughter's math grade came up to a "B" and she made Honour Roll standing!

I would like to commend your teacher for the excellent job of teaching my daughter. Not only did she teach the basics of math in a way my daughter could understand, she also gave confidence and friendship to a very lonely and slightly disoriented (we had only recently moved to the Valley from Vancouver) little girl. Thank you very much.

Our daughter has been in a modified program since elementary school. This year it was necessary to remove her from that program to an even more simplified curriculum. Her self esteem was low and we had difficulty with her at home. She has progressed immensely at 4R's and her learning level has been increased at least three times. Her attitude and self worth are noticeably improved. So much so that her teachers at school feel she should again attempt integrating with the main student body; so she will start school in September as a grade 9 student with some modified programs. Her dad and I are very proud of her and would recommend 4R's to anyone who may also have special learning needs.
